Mother’s Day and graduation season is quickly approaching. Today I am sharing a fun Mother’s Day card and two graduation cards, all using a couple of sets from the Catherine Pooler Designs – The Perfect Reason Collection. It is not a secret I enjoy challenging myself to use stamp sets in unexpected ways. Hopefully, my cards will help you look at stamp sets in a new and exciting way. Exciting……Well, yes because there is also a sponsored giveaway. More details after I share my cards.
Mother’s Day
This Mother’s Day card was created using Catherine Pooler Designs Paisley Peacock stamp set and You Did It stamp set. My Mother enjoys birds, but she loves flowers. So how do I turn a Peacock into a flower? This stamp set is packed with several building elements that can be used in a plethora of ways. I started with the large tail piece and stamped on each side of a 4″ card panel. (Tip: Repeat stamping to create a wreath – Position stamp on the center of one side of your square card panel. Use your MISTI to keep placement and then turn your panel and stamp on each side.) Just this one stamp fills the panel nicely. I added a couple more elements in different colors and stamped using my MISTI using the same method as described in the above tip. The colors used are Catherine Pooler Designs: Aquatini, Fiesta Blue, Something Borrowed and Flirty Fuchsia. Then I stamped the sentiment which is from the You Did It stamp set. This design makes me think of a fluffy hydrangea wreath.
The finished stamped panel is matted to a black piece of cardstock leaving a 1/16″ border. I added a strip of striped patterned paper from the Black Tie Gala patterned paper pack to the A2 top folding, black card base. Finally I finished the card by adhering the stamped panel with a layer of craft foam to the card base. I surprised myself with this card. I hope it sparked your interest and you give it a try.
Graduation
The next two cards I have to share with you were created using Catherine Pooler Designs: Perfect Reason stamp set and You Did It stamp set.
This masculine graduation card was quite simple and completed by repeat stamping. I used the MISTI to stamp congrats multiple times in a two tone ombre (Black Jack and Juniper Mist). I then used a small acrylic stamp block to stamp the stars (Sauna). The stamped panel was then trimmed down to 4-1/4″ x 5″ and then adhered to an A2 top folding card base (Smoke).
Above is a close-up showing the change in the ink colors for the repeat stamped sentiment.
Are you ready for the grand finale? For this feminine graduation card I created floral fireworks. First I stamped the sentiment. Then I stamped the flowers and dots (sweet sixteen and flirty fuchsia). I die-cut several of the flowers, stamped them and then adhered with foam tape. The large flowers have a double layer of die-cuts and the small flower is just a single layer. The panel is adhered to the A2 white card base along with a layer of craft foam.
I love the dimension of the floral fireworks. What a fun card to create. Did I spark your interest to create something new?

i love the creative way you used the peacock feathers!! TFS!!
Beautiful cards! Thank you for sharing!
I love your cards. I am a beginner card maker.
Thanks for the inspiration to think outside the box. I love all your cards but really liked the first. I liked the wreath concept but using fewer images and not “really a round wreath”. I also liked how you made a square panel into a rectangle card. Square cards cost more to send.
I love these cards, especially the feminine graduation card. So unique and interesting. For my next graduate I will make this. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
Your cards are fantastic! Really love what you did with both cards and great colors, thank you for sharing and a chance to win. Have a wonderful weekend!
Wonderful color combos and card designs!

How clever of you to use stamps in different ways than the original purpose.–peacock tails for a round design and floral for fireworks. Thanks for the hint about evenly spacing the elements of the circle. Great cards, girl.
